Tour description
Let yourself be enchanted by the fairytale land of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. With more than 700 square kilometers of space, it is one of Europe’s last large wildernesses. The most beautiful parts of this region, with its valuable flora and fauna, are protected as a cross-border national park. Step into a world free of noise and everyday routine.
As a small spoiler to the tour - the jewel of Bohemian Switzerland and a serious candidate for the list of the wonders of the world, Pravčická Gate awaits your visit.
Our trips to the rock towns and deep forests let us realize that we are witnesses of the Mesozoic era.
The table hills, pinnacles and gorges of Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland offer impressive images for your photos. Some species flourish here that have long disappeared from other regions. Keep an eye out for salmon, otters, lynxes, peregrine falcons or kingfishers – and plenty of others…
We promise you so many adrenaline activities and positive impressions, you will not want to turn back home.
Itinerary
Individual arrival to Děčín
Show dayWe have carefully chosen the accommodation in a family-run hotel with a lovely child playground. There is a welcome meeting with the local guide in the evening. You have got a chance to learn about the itinerary and all the adventures awaiting you.
While in Decin, make sure you climb some of the city peaks. For example, the Decinsky Sneznik located East of Decin, is a mountain top with a view tower, from where you can get a magnificent view of the city and the surrounding landscapes all around.
Discover the history of Decin by visiting its 18th-century castle, and viewing the town from one of its hill-tops. Most importantly, don't forget to get a good glimpse of the Shepherd’s Wall from the riverboat on the Elbe River.
Paddle and cycle tour with a picknick
Show dayThe most preferred and touristy-attractive way to fully take in the stunning view is to go on a boat ride through the deepest sandstone canyon in Europe.
Even small children can join the mesmerizing flat-water canoe or inflatable boat tour, as the calm water lets your family enjoy a harmonious paddle on the river.
Bizzare rock formations, climbing walls, and forests line the Elbe River all along the route. The ride downstream ends in the spa town of Bad Schandau on the German side of the border.
Here is a great place for a cup of coffee on the quay. We will deliver bicycles and a picnic basket full of local goodies, so you can enjoy a relaxed lunch on the riverbank. Then you'll cycle back on the attractive Elbe cycling trail.
Kick scooter trip and downhill ride
Show dayToday you'll take off on a kick scooter trip from Děčínský Sněžník (723 m above sea level), the highest tabletop mountain in the Czech Republic.
We'll drop you off near the top, where you'll see panoramic views of the national park, the undulating Czech highlands, and the Ore Mountains. You can also visit the unique rock formations in nearby Tisa. Finally, a 12 km downhill ride on a scooter along a cycling trail brings you back to Děčín. Fancy a longer trip? No problem, there are several scooter trails of various lengths to choose from.
Via Ferrata
Show dayToday brings an adrenaline adventure right in the heart of Děčín. A large Via Ferrata course awaits you in the center of town, with routes for everyone from beginners to experienced climbers. Our guide will explain everything, familiarize you with the equipment and how to use it, demonstrate the climbing technique, and guide you safely along the wall. Kids are welcome.
In the afternoon can enjoy our outdoor games and activities at our Active Park. In 2 hours you can play petanque, kan jam, try slack line, archery, or hoverboard ride.
As an alternative, use an opportunity to relax at the city pool with its geothermal water and toboggans.
Distance: 8-13 km.
This hiking tour begins in the village of Jetřichovice, known for its charming examples of local folk architecture. From there, the trail takes you through a picturesque river valley to the ruins of the historic water mill, Dolský mlýn. Afterward, you’ll ascend rocky cliffs to reach the castle ruins of Šaunštejn, once a sentinel over an old merchant route. For those seeking a more challenging adventure, the hike continues to the ruins of Falkenštejn Castle and the striking sandstone formation known as Malá Pravčická brána (Little Pravčická Gate).
Distance: 15 km
Today's walking round tour in the national park takes you further into this beautiful, untamed landscape. The tour starts in the traditional heart of the national park, the village of Jetřichovice. From here you will ascend to a breathtaking ridge above sandstone towers, where you'll get a bird's eye view of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland. On the way you also visit a ruin of a robber castle hidden in the forests by an old Merchant trail or a ruin of a water mill in the romantic river valley. Your tour ends again in Jetřichovice.
Distance: 18 km.
From Mezni Louka as starting point, the path brings you to Edmund's Gorge, where you hop onto a dinghy boat on the Kamenice River. The boatman takes you through the sandstone gorge and tells you about nature and history. After a short walking part, you´ll reach the picturesque village of Hřensko. Then you'll hike up to the biggest natural sandstone arch in Europe, Pravčická brána. The arch is 16 m high, the total span is almost 27 m, the arch is 7-8 m wide. Monumental rock arch does not only fascinate visitors but also scientists.
Here you'll follow in the footsteps of storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, who searched for inspiration in this romantic countryside. Your tour ends in Mezni Louka again.

Our self-guided tours
Accommodation is one of the most important parts of each trip that strongly influences the final look of it. We make our best to offer you the best possible accommodation in the prefered category. The hotels we offer are either comfortable small hotels or quite guesthouses both in 3* quality, all of it rather small and with personality than big chain. All the tours have accommodation in or near the town/village centres so you can spend the afternoon and evening after biking exploring the town itself or simply enjoy the peace of the place.
