Heading south, you cycle along the car-free Salzach to Hallein and Kuchl. Continue on side roads via Werfen on the well-developed cycle path to St. Johann im Pongau. The day tour can be shortened by taking the train parallel to the cycle route every hour and then only 29 km/61 m elevation (hourly intervals; approx. € 8.50 payable). Start your day cycling along the scenic Salzach River to reach Schwarzach-St. Veit. From here, take a train to Dorfgastein (approx. €15, payable on-site)**. Back on your bike, pedal through the charming towns of Bad Gastein and Böckstein. Then, board the Tauernschleuse train for a picturesque ride through the mountains to Mallnitz (bike and passenger tickets included; trains run every hour).

If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a detour to Seebachtal valley, leading to the beautiful Stappitzer See (+17 km). Overnight accommodations will be at the 3-star Hotel Alber or a similar option. If you'd prefer to spend the night in Bad Gastein, please indicate this when booking.

**For a more active option: From Schwarzach-St. Veit, cycle a car-free route to Dorfgastein, featuring some challenging climbs and short tunnels (total distance: 59 km, 600 vertical meters). This route is manageable with an e-bike, even for those with moderate fitness levels.

Begin your day cycling from Mallnitz into the stunning side valleys of the Tauern National Park, heading towards the neighboring Tauern Valley. The route includes a gentle 4 km uphill section leading to the Stockerhütte, located in the outer region of the national park.

From there, descend back to the valley floor and follow the Alpe-Adria cycle path. Pass through the quaint villages of Obervellach and Möllbrücke as you make your way into the serene Drau Valley. The journey concludes as you reach Seeboden, situated on the shores of Lake Millstatt.

On a flat and car-free path on and near the Drau, you reach the city of Villach with its old town worth seeing. Now it continues continuously slightly uphill along the Gail via Arnoldstein to Travis. Overnight stay at the 3-star Hotel Nevada or similar.

(59-72 km, 85 m elevation)

Today features the highlight of the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path as you ride through the picturesque and narrow valley of the Fella River. The route follows the old railway line, which offers scenic views of the surrounding natural beauty, leading to the charming town of Pontebba.

After a brief section along the road, the path continues toward your day's destination, Carnia. Alternatively, you can extend your journey slightly to the historic town of Venzone, renowned for its medieval walls and beautifully reconstructed center.

Partly car-free and close to the Tagliamento River or on back roads, you pass Osoppo and Buia through the fertile landscape of Friuli to the day's destination, a magnificent trading town with numerous sights (Piazza della Liberta, Duomo, old town). Overnight stay at the 4-star Hotel Ambassador or equivalent.

On cycle paths from the city center into the fertile surrounding countryside and through romantic villages such as Pavia, you cycle to Palmanova, a Venetian fortified town (16th century) with Piazza Grande, cathedral, numerous Renaissance palaces and completely preserved city fortifications. Continue via Cervignano to Aquileia. The old port town of Grado is reached through the lagoon in an impressive landscape. Overnight stay in a 4-star hotel (e.g. Hotel Villa Erica or equivalent) or in a 3-star hotel (e.g. Hotel Diana orequivalent).
